EEFD

Who we are
The school of Physical Education – EEFD is one of the unities that integrate the Health Sciences Center of The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
UFRJ is one of the biggest Brazilian universities and it has several campuses in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The largest one is located in the University City, in front of Guanabara Bay.

Introduction
The EEFD teaching activities include undergraduate courses in Physical Education and Dancing areas. Moreover, it offers non-degree and degree graduate courses.
The research activities are developed by the EEFD faculty in the areas of Biosciences, Pedagogy of Physical Education and Dancing, in its respective labs and integrated to the graduate courses.
Partnerships are also established with researchers from other Health area unities and from other UFRJ centers, such as the Technology center, the Philosophy center and Letters and Arts center.
Multidisciplinary projects integrate the extension activities to the EEFD undergraduate courses, according to the students’ participation, uniting theory and practice.
Two Dancing Companies, The Contemporary Dancing Company and The Folkloric Company of UFRJ produce performances, in partnership with the Dancing coursers offered by EEFD.

Our Courses
It has five undergraduate courses: two in the Physical Education area (Physical Education and Physical Education Teaching Degree) and three in the Dancing area (Dance Teaching Degree, Dance Theory and Bachelor of Dance).
The Physical Education School also offers several non-degree graduate courses for students who graduated in Physical Education, in Physical therapy and even, in some cases, in Nutrition. The courses are: Biomechanics, Analysis of Human Performance, Field and Court Sport, Critical Pedagogy of Physical Education and Sport Training and Football Sciences.

Master Program

The EEFD Master Program focuses on the “Biodynamics of Human Movement”, which is divided into three main research lines: Biomechanics, Physiology of Exercise and Sport Training.
